      Hi all,

when I run the ping to the background it is still showing the output on my screen like “64 bytes from 127.0.0.1…” thus interrupting my further typing. I assume this is not desired. How can I prevent this?

      Thanks
      Daniel

      Ctrl+C to terminate.

      hi,

You can redirect the output to a file if you don’t want to see it on screen. You can use below command.

      >ping -i localhost > ping1 &

after your practice delete the ping1 file in your current directory.

Hi yaked7, you can increase the time intervals, to avoid interruption and review them with jobs.

As far as I can tell, it doesn’t really matter if your typing gets interrupted and broken up; the command still runs.
